Overview

Imprisoned in the 1940s for the double murder of his wife and her lover, upstanding banker Andy Dufresne begins a new life at the Shawshank prison, where he puts his accounting skills to work for an amoral warden. During his long stretch in prison, Dufresne comes to be admired by the other inmates -- including an older prisoner named Red -- for his integrity and unquenchable sense of hope.

Remember folks, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies". Join your favourite ragtag fellowship of TransAtlantic podcasters, Ian, Liam, KevDog, Megs and Georgia as we're beginning a 20 year journey to breaking out of prison as we review the Frank Darabont cinematic adaptation of a Stephen King short story, The Shawshank Redemption.  We're toasting one of our own as Georgia records her last live episode for a while in our 244th episode as we discuss:

  • Why does this film have the legacy it does?
  • We talk about why Morgan Freeman is the voice of our generation
  • Ian updates the world on the weight game
  • How many things had to go right for Andy's plan to go correctly
  • Does this film do enough at establishing Andy and Red as polar opposites
  • We talk about how there is a way to correctly read a film if they direct us to do so
  • Whether or not The Shawshank Redemption is the Best Film Ever
