Overview

As armies mass for a final battle that will decide the fate of the world--and powerful, ancient forces of Light and Dark compete to determine the outcome--one member of the Fellowship of the Ring is revealed as the noble heir to the throne of the Kings of Men. Yet, the sole hope for triumph over evil lies with a brave hobbit, Frodo, who, accompanied by his loyal friend Sam and the hideous, wretched Gollum, ventures deep into the very dark heart of Mordor on his seemingly impossible quest to destroy the Ring of Power.

We've got a near 5 hour long epic of an episode for the 3 plus hour epic conclusion of The Lord of the Rings trilogy in The Return of the King.  Join your ragtag fellowship of TransAtlantic podcasters, Ian, Liam, and Megan, (Georgia got caught up in a spiderweb) as they're joined by our friendly guide, the greatest LOTR expert of our time, James DeGuzman, as we're heading to the black gate to create a diversion for Frodo in this majestic conclusion to a three year journey for viewers at the time and the BFE as we've reviewed them.  We're discussing how important endings are in our 239th episode as we discuss:

  • The many seeming endings of ROTK
  • What is Viggo Mortensen's primary skill as an actor
  • How does the CGI hold up today
  • Was Aragorn leading on Eowyn and did he ultimately choose the wrong girl
  • Liam has a hard time understanding the motivations of a certain character
  • Christopher Lee really did get shafted
  • We've got a ton of returning names to our growing actor roster and someone sets a record
  • Megan and James provide us extra commentary relevant to the extended versions of the films
  • Whether or not The Sixth Sense is the Best Film Ever
